KDM/Octasound was asked by OutRun Parkour to design a sound system for them. They provided us with the layout and how they wanted the system to function. One set of controls (Bluetooth, Aux and Mic) in the office and another set of controls on the Parkour floor. This would allow staff to source audio into the system from the office and on the Parkour floor. The floor controls would also allow the guests to play their own music. The Octasound design provided for an easy to operate system for everyone. No operation manual required. Press a button to pair the bluetooth, plug in a mic or headphone output and simply turn up the volume.
This warehouse setup is very common for many recreation activities / sports. Trampoline Parks, Axe Throwing, Kids play centers and Parkour to name a few.
Jesse wanted to be able to operate the system from the office for his staff plus provide a convenient location in the facility for visitors. He wanted a deep bass response to create an audio experience that would energize the user experience and parkour workout.
Design Goals
- Two Input locations for operation of the sound system. Main office controls for staff and in room for end users / visitors.
- Interface will be intuitive and easy to operate.
- Interface will remain compatible with any future components.
- Input controls must not rely on software and will not require any maintenance or updates.
The Sound System Equipment

Speakers
- 2 x SP800A Octasound 360 x 180 Ceiling speaker.
- SP800A speakers will easily provide full audio coverage for this environment.
- Can replace up to 20 ceiling or pendant type speakers.
- Easier to install vs ceiling and pendant type speakers. Less wiring required.
- The pitfalls of a 70V system is avoided.

Amplifier
- 1 x 300 to 500 Watt Dual channel DSP amplifier.
- Amplifier can be computer programmed or via front panel.
- Maximum levels can be established for each channel to prevent over powering the loudspeakers
- Crossover can be established to steer damaging lows away from the SP800A speaker and into the subwoofer.
- Panel can be locked out so settings cannot be adjusted by end users.
